About the project

Knowledge of the phenomena that can occur during severe accidents in a nuclear power plant is an important prerequisite for being able to predict the plant’s behavior, to be able to design procedures and guidelines for accident management, for emergency planning and to get good quality in accident analyzes and risk studies.

APRI is a collaborative project that will constitute a common platform and knowledge base for the nuclear industry as well as the regulator in Sweden regarding phenomena and event sequences during severe accidents at a nuclear power plant. The new knowledge that the project adds to SSM and the power companies will improve the assessment of existing measures, technical and administrative, to deal with severe accidents.
